Animes to Watch: Cheerfulnuts’ Top 11 Favorites
79Anime, or Japanese animation, usually refers to cartoons with large-eyed characters. Most anime (but not all) are based on manga or comics, some on videogames. Some people who are not familiar with anime assume that otakus (anime fans) are mostly children. However, anime is not limited to cute girl heroines or robot super heroes. There are diverse anime shows available in the market. Anime attracts just as much, if not more, adult viewers.
Unlike in most countries, the Japanese government requires filmmakers to ask for permit before they make use of the country's locations for shooting. This is a great hindrance to films requiring several different filming locations. Some foreign films that have stories set in Japan had been filmed in other countries. In response, the Japanese had created more films and TV shows in anime to resolve Japan’s strict filming rules and to cater to the taste of a wider audience. With anime, filmmakers can freely set the story in any location they want without going through the red tape.
I started watching anime since high school. Seeing an anime show on TV makes me feel nostalgic. In this hub, I’ve listed some of my favourite anime series. These are not in any particular order. All of them have been adapted from manga. Enjoy!

I like Death Note and High School of the Dead, so it's awesome they made this list. I'm waiting for my Love Hina DVD's in the mail right now, and my dirty secret - I'm a closet fan of sailor moon. Wait? did i just out myself online?
To me, that's just a few animes! lol! I want to watch all of them but that's probably impossible. Yeah I feel the same way as bubblegum senpai, because it helped me become aware of/interested in learning about the Japanese culture. I'm a big fan of Sailor Moon too! :)

This list includes some of my favorites but also includes some I hadn't heard of! :) Yuyu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin used to be on Toonami after school back when I was in junior high. I had a rough time in junior high because of bullying. Getting into anime at that time was wonderful for me because I could escape into fantasy. :) Soon after seeing those shows I got into Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, etc. Basically anything they'd put on CN, and I read everything I could about anime and Japanese culture and totally fell in love. Also G Gundam, that show was on CN too and got me into giant robots, and then Evangelion showed me that there was a lot more they could do with that genre than I ever imagined.
